Jeff Bridges and wife Susan Geston have sold their Montecito, CA, compound for $6.85 million, Variety reported. The buyer was none other than fellow Montecito resident Oprah Winfrey.
The media mogul has a flair for well-timed real estate deals. The property is a perfect extension of Winfrey’s massive acreage nearby, but she waited months after the actor and his wife listed their property to pounce.
The home was originally listed in April for almost $8 million; in July, the price was cut by $500,000. Then Oprah made her move, closing the deal in October for the same price the couple paid for the property in 2014.
Still, the dude abides. After all, the couple put the home on the market after withstanding major damage from severe mudslides last year.
Our home has been severely damaged, but we are safe, and so thankful for that and for the first responders who are working tirelessly to save people. We are heartbroken over the loss of lives in our community. Your prayers and best wishes are most appreciated.

Winfrey’s luck held during the natural disaster, as her property was “fine” except for “some mud, and minor damage that pales in comparison to what my neighbors are going through,” she posted on Instagram, possibly referring to Bridges’ abode.
Since the disaster, Bridges’ 100-year-old, Spanish-revival home has been completely restored. The compound mixes original structures from 1919 with modern updates.
The spectacular space includes original windows and doors, hardwood floors, five fireplaces, and remodeled baths. The kitchen—which adjoins an oversize family room—is also modernized with upscale appliances and quartz counters.
Notable features include high ceilings, expansive windows, and French doors that flood the home with natural light. Every room opens out to the gardens.
In addition, the master suite features a beamed ceiling, large bay window, French doors, and a fireplace.
Other structures include a private well, pool, pool house with a family room, and a detached one-bedroom guesthouse.
The estate also includes a 5,000-square-foot barn that served as the actor and musician’s performance stage, art studio, and meditation space.
Bridges, who’s starred in “The Big Lebowski,” “True Grit,” and “Hell or High Water,” also has a home in Montana. As for Winfrey, she owns a multitude of posh properties, including a 43-acre retreat on Orcas Island in Washington and a ranch in Maui.
Sally Hanseth of Coldwell Banker represented the listing.
