The 3 Celebrity Homes From 2019 That You Absolutely Must See

We look at celebrity homes every day, so we’re used to luxury.

Yes, a home theater is cool, and we’d love a cabana next to our Olympic-size pool in the backyard, but we’re a bit jaded. If you’ve seen one glassed-in wine storage wall, you’ve seen ’em all. However, there are always a few celeb abodes that stand apart from the rest. Whether its their location, amazing features, or awesome amenities, a handful of A-list homes always rises above the gilded crowd.

We surveyed a year’s worth of celebrity homes to choose our three favorites of 2019. The red carpet has been rolled out, so come on in and have a look around at these must-see homes.

1. Alicia Keys makes a sharp choice in La Jolla

The facts: We love when a celebrity appreciates A-list design. Alicia Keys hit a high note with her purchase of the Southern California architectural standout known as the Razor House. The glass, concrete, and steel structure sits on a precipice overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Although the $20.8 million price seems as steep as the cliff the home is perched on, Keys managed to score a relative bargain. The home initially landed on the market in August 2018 for $30 million.

What sets it apart: The eye-popping design. The structure is rumored to be the inspiration for the fictional dwelling for Tony Stark in “Iron Man,” and features spectacular ocean views.

The unique home, with its sharp angles and cantilever design, has been featured in a number of marketing campaigns, including a Calvin Klein spot and Visa Black Card ad.

Must-see feature: Soak in the ocean views from the dramatic, black-tiled, vanishing-edge, heated pool.

2. Tom Brady lists fabulous mansion, gets sacked for a loss

The facts: With an eye to life after football, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his wife, model Gisele Bündchen, put their custom Massachusetts mansion on the market in August for $39.5 million.

The superstar couple worked with architect Richard Landry to create a five-bedroom mansion and a 2,400-square-foot guesthouse with yoga studio. Construction was completed in 2015.

We got our first glimpse of the home when the future Hall of Famer allowed cameras inside for his Facebook show “Tom vs. Time.” We were impressed by the interior spaces, then taken aback when the home came on the market this summer. The couple reportedly purchased a place in Greenwich, CT, perhaps in preparation for Brady’s post-Patriots career.

Brady and Bundchen called an audible after a couple of months and slashed the price by 14%. The home is now available for $33.9 million.

What sets it apart: The couple snapped up 5 prime acres from cash-strapped Pine Manor College for $4.5 million. They then built a compound on a serene locale adjacent to the ninth hole of the nearby country club and golf course.

It’s secluded, but only a short drive to Boston. It’s also a 23-mile drive to Patriots HQ in Foxborough, MA.

Must-see feature: While the main house is lovely, we love the guesthouse. The detached, “barn-inspired” structure features the aforementioned yoga studio, as well as a full bathroom, sleeping loft, and walls that open up for a “Zen-like experience.”

3. Bette Midler’s simply divine NYC penthouse

The facts: Miss M is making a move. Bette Midler‘s 14-room, three-floor penthouse is a combination of two units, and it overlooks Central Park. The multitalented entertainer and her husband are now empty nesters, and looking to downsize in NYC. As a result, this statement six-bedroom residence landed on the market for $50 million in September.

The word “apartment” doesn’t do this place justice. It is among the grandest residences in one of the nation’s most expensive housing markets. A private elevator opens to a dramatic gallery, which leads to a large space for entertaining.

What sets it apart: Space, space, and more space. In the heart of the city, square footage is key, and this place delivers big-time.

Midler and her husband, Martin von Haselberg, spent two years renovating the combined units to create a 7,000-square-foot “country house,” and an additional 3,000 square feet of outdoor space. The latter alone is larger than many NYC apartments.

Must-see feature: Like to read? Or curl up and chill out in the middle of the big city? Head to the top floor, where you’ll find a library with a 13-foot ceiling, fireplace, floor-to-ceiling bookcases, and windows looking out to Central Park and the reservoir. It also opens to another landscaped garden with views in all directions. Talk about divine!
