Considered one of the greatest power forwards (and greatest European players) of all time, the German-born basketball icon Dirk Nowitzki has found a new place to hang his cowboy hat.
In no hurry to leave the Lone Star State, the now-retired Dallas Mavericks legend and his family recently purchased a gorgeous 11,394-square-foot home in the prestigious Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas.
The home had been on the market for over a year and was priced as high as $8.25 million in 2018. It was back on the market for $6 million in early September, and a deal closed in late October at a reported price of $5.75 million.
Two master suites, four en suite bedrooms, and three separate living areas fill the massive space. It also features three fireplaces, a commercial-grade kitchen, butler pantry, a poolhouse with its own indoor lap pool, a full tennis court, a guesthouse, and a garage that can accommodate five cars.
The new Nowitzki residence is a fitting tribute to a local sports legend and Dallas mainstay. Built in 1939, it’s an elegant oasis just outside Dallas, but close enough for beautiful skyline views.
Other notable residents of the Preston Hollow neighborhood include Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, golfer Lee Trevino, and former President George W. Bush.

Drafted in 1998, Nowitzki was acquired by the Mavericks in a draft night trade. He began his NBA career at the age 20, and neither he nor the franchise would ever look back.
Over the course of his amazing 21-year NBA career, he was an All-Star 14 times, a league MVP, and led the Mavericks to their only NBA championship in 2011. And talk about deep roots—the 7-foot sharpshooter is the only NBA player to play over 20 seasons with one franchise.
