A decade after singer-songwriter Norah Jones bought and updated a four-story brownstone in Brooklyn, the Greek Revival home is back on the market for $8 million.
Jones picked up the harmonious house for $4.9 million and proceeded to make improvements.
Built in the 1800s, the luxe space now hits all the right notes. The interior retains some original details along with a few key modern updates, including a “disappearing” heated pool and hot tub in the backyard.
Here’s how it works. The water features appear at the touch of a key as part of a smart home feature. Otherwise, the pools are covered with a patio, perfect for outdoor entertaining.
Along with the 1,400-square-foot backyard and a 300-square-foot terrace, the 4,500-square-foot interior features five bedrooms and three bathrooms. Notable details include exposed brick, reclaimed wood, and multiple fireplaces
On the garden level, you’ll find a chef’s kitchen with bar seating with a custom teak island.
Adjacent is a media room and breakfast nook overlooking the backyard. Next to the formal dining room, there’s an “artisan-crafted cocktail room with a reclaimed French teak wet bar,” according to the listing.
On the third floor, the large master suite includes a fireplace, walk-in closet, bath, and French doors leading to the terrace. An additional office or nursery is included.
On the top floor, two more bedrooms as well as a living area and a kitchenette round out the home.
Additional details include radiant-heat floors, rooftop solar panels, and a smart home system. The brownstone is located in the Cobble Hill area, close to the subway and charming Court Street shopping and dining.
The musician owns a second home nearby, which she reportedly bought in 2015 for $6.25 million. According to Architectural Digest, the performer had the three-unit building combined into a single-family home.
Now 40, the nine-time Grammy winner with hits such as “Don’t Know Why” and “What Am I to You?” has sold more than 50 million records worldwide. Billboard named her the top jazz artist of the 2000s decade.
Sonia Brown and Ryan Serhant with Nest Seekers International hold the listing.
