Former Dave Matthews Band member Boyd Tinsley is selling a $3 million estate in North Garden, VA. The 52-acre spread landed on the market in November, but has yet to attract a buyer.
Tinsley was a stalwart violinist, songwriter, and mandolinist for the popular band, but was fired from the group in 2018 amid sexual harassment allegations.
A Virginia native, Tinsley graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1982 and followed that up with a history degree from the University of Virginia in 1987. He met up with Dave Matthews in the early ’90s and spent the next three decades writing, recording, and touring with the rock band.
Tinsley’s rural property is located 20 minutes south of Charlottesville.
Secluded and private, the historic property dates to 1800 and was once a Civil War general store.
In 1996, the home was renovated and revamped. It now measures 7,500 square feet and has six bedrooms.
Designer touches include vaulted ceilings, expanded porches, and five stone fireplaces. Outdoors, you’ll find a bluestone courtyard, hot tub, and sauna with a scenic view overlooking a creek.
For aspiring musicians or recording artists, the property boasts a separate guesthouse that was used as a music studio. There’s also an indoor gym and tennis facility, which a new owner could reconfigure if they desired.
After his ouster from the band, Tinsley tweeted about a need to slow down and focus on his family.
I need to take a break from the band & touring 2 focus on my family & my health 4 a while. I will miss you guys & my brothers in the band but I’m somewhat worn out & need 2 spend more time with my family & 2 bring more balance to my life. Thanks 4 ur Love. #peaceandLoVE
