Nikki Haley, who was U.S. ambassador to the United Nations after serving as governor of South Carolina, has bought a home in her home state for $2.4 million, Charleston’s Post and Courier reported.
The mansion, which Haley, 47, purchased with her husband, Michael Haley, is located on exclusive Kiawah Island, SC. The villa had last been on the market for $2.8 million. Nikki Haley’s negotiating skills appear to be intact.
The home purchase has sparked speculation that she may be considering a move back into politics, with an eye to a presidential run in 2024.
Built in 2003, the Mediterranean-style abode sits on a half-acre looking out onto the Kiawah River and features 100-year-old oaks and palm trees.
The graceful design features tiered balconies, private terraces, a pool, and poolside loggia with an outdoor kitchen.
Inside, the layout features 5,774 square feet, four bedrooms, and 4.5 bathrooms, with plenty of formal spaces for entertaining. Enter into a two-story foyer, which leads into a great room with picture windows and a high ceiling, a fireplace, and a bar, with an area roomy enough for a grand piano.
In addition to a formal dining room, there’s also a casual dining area that opens out onto a terrace. The gourmet kitchen includes top-tier appliances, two granite-topped islands, and bar seating.
Head to the second floor to find a large master suite, which includes a private terrace, sitting area with a breakfast bar, a bath with two vanities, and two walk-in closets.
Other amenities include an office, a third-floor guest suite, and a bonus room that could be converted into a media room. Plus, there’s a four-stop elevator and a smart home security system.
Located 21 miles off the coast near Charleston, the island oasis features golf courses and a five-star resort, and has welcomed many notable guests to the low-key getaway, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, and Joe Biden.
Before joining the Trump administration for her stint as U.N. ambassador, Haley served as the Republican governor of the Palmetto state from 2011 to 2017, cutting short her second term to take on the U.N. role.
After she resigned from the role in 2018, she remained in New York City. Haley’s office confirmed to the Associated Press that the couple would be splitting their time between South Carolina and New York until their son graduates from high school next spring.
Nikki Haley has since joined the board of the Boeing Co. and will soon be on tour to promote her book, “With All Due Respect.”
