Los Angeles Chargers owner Dean Spanos is looking to a score a sale of his La Jolla, CA, estate. The NFL bigwig has placed the hilltop property on the market for $17.95 million.

The longtime chairman of the Chargers relocated the team from San Diego to Los Angeles in 2017. Now, he’s ready to move on from his San Diego–area home as well.

He and wife Susie Spanos bought the steeply sloped property in 1997, and then had a residence custom-built, according to Ranch and Coast magazine.

The gated estate is a winning combination of indoor and outdoor living—as well as unparalleled ocean and sunset views.

The 10,285-square-foot home has six bedrooms, six baths, and four half-baths. The contemporary layout features a great room with fireplace that opens to a deck outside.

Highlights include soaring ceilings and natural light throughout, a formal dining room, and family room. The remodeled kitchen features a large island with seating, as well as an adjacent breakfast room.

The living and dining areas open to slate-tiled terraces, which are perfect for parties or large family gatherings

The spacious master suite includes a luxe bath and walk-in closet. There’s an impressive media room with a bar—which currently showcases sports memorabilia—a perfect spot to spend NFL Sundays.

Other amenities include a gym, wine cellar, elevator, massage room, staff quarters, offices, and a library.

Outside, the homes boasts multiple decks that overlook the La Jolla coastline, a pool, walkways, and a fruit orchard. An eight-car garage completes the grounds.

Spanos, 70, took over daily operations of the team in 1994 from his father, Alex Spanos, who bought the Chargers in 1984. He took full ownership after his father’s death in 2018, but has passed on day-to-day operations of the franchise to his sons. In 2017, he exercised the option to relocate the team to Los Angeles, after failing to find funding for a new downtown football stadium.

Ross Clark with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices holds the listing.
