Here’s a plot twist: Bestselling author Gregg Hurwitz has picked up a horse property in Hidden Hills, CA. The home in the gated community was sold for $3.34 million in March.

The novelist—who has penned such thrillers as “Orphan X” and “Do No Harm”—has a keen eye for real estate. The home he purchased had been on the market for two years and was billed as the “best deal in Hidden Hills,” according to the listing.

Built in 2000, the home came on the market in June 2018 for $4.7 million. The price was eventually reduced to $3.6 million in January 2020. The author stepped in at that point and closed on a deal in mid-March.

We’re sure this picturesque property will be the perfect setting for Hurwitz’s next page turner.

The home sits on a little over an acre and has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The main level boasts amazing views, and the living room with a fireplace and bar leads out to a large patio. The floor also includes a formal dining room, and a large eat-in kitchen with stainless-steel appliances, a breakfast nook, and a fireplace.

The main level also holds two bedrooms as well as an office. Upstairs are three additional en suite bedrooms. The spacious master suite boasts a private deck, and a secret door leads down to a finished basement complete with a wine cellar and a theater room with a built-in Fort Knox safe.

For horse lovers, the property includes a barn with four stalls and a separate paddock. The backyard has a pool and patio with a fire pit.

The listing notes that the hillside home could also be perfect for a vineyard.

Along with writing the hit “Orphan X” five-book series, which has been optioned for a movie, Hurwitz has penned film and TV scripts, and writes comic books for DC and Marvel.

Melissa Improta with Compass represented the seller. Mark Goldsmith with Coldwell Banker Realty Beverly Hills North represented the buyer.
