NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony has placed his New York City condo on the market for $12.85 million. The 10-time All-Star joined the Portland Trail Blazers in November and now has decided to move on from his Chelsea digs.
Michael Graves, who represents the listing with Kevin Mallen, both of Compass, says that the basketball star was drawn to the building for “the amount of space for that location, the high ceilings, excellent entertaining space, and room for an art collection.”
Along with his obvious talents on the court, Anthony appears to have a keen eye for art and real estate. Eye-catching artwork fills the living space.
The unit was purchased by the future Hall of Famer in 2015, and he made a few “adjustments” to the space, such as adding a full wall of wine storage and a humidor for a cigar collection. The media room is tailor-made for a sports junkie, with multiple screens on the wall.
Covering the entire fifth floor, the spacious, loft-style layout includes five bedrooms and four bathrooms. At 4,556 square feet, it’s the largest unit in the building and is accessed by private elevator. Features include 10-foot ceilings, white oak floors, and oversized casement windows.
The one-floor, light-filled layout provides separation between the entertaining areas and sleeping quarters. An expansive living space includes two separate entertaining rooms and a dining area. The 19-foot open kitchen features a marble countertop and backsplash, as well as custom walnut cabinetry.
In the living quarters, the bedroom wing includes a private master suite with a spa bath and private dressing rooms. The other bedrooms all have en suite baths.
With views in every direction, the condo also includes a private balcony that overlooks the High Line public park. Building amenities of the 10-story condominium include a door attendant, fitness center, two private storage units, bike room, and common courtyard.
The property is located in the vibrant Chelsea art district, within walking distance of the Whitney Museum, Chelsea Piers, Hudson Yards, galleries, restaurants, and shopping.
The Brooklyn native, who is 35, is currently in the market for another residence in the New York area. Prior to his career revival with the Trail Blazers, he played with the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Houston Rockets.
