Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has programmed a purchase of another Hunts Point, WA, property, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal.
Ballmer, 63, and his wife, Connie, picked up the home adjacent to their current waterfront mansion, paying $9.8 million in early December 2019, property records show.
While there are no photos available, the listing offered a 3,790-square-foot home with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. The home was built in 1902, and the records note that it underwent a renovation in 1999.
The nearly 1-acre property, due south of Ballmer’s main home, adds to the couple’s holdings in the Seattle area.
In 1987, they bought their main residence for $1,325,000—which proved to be a savvy buy. Since then, the appraised value of the 2.1-acre property has risen to over $12 million.
Located in the coveted community situated on a peninsula of Lake Washington, a straight shot to Seattle, the exclusive enclave has counted other wealthy residents, such as Costco co-founder and former CEO Jim Sinegal and the former owner of the Seattle Seahawks, John Nordstrom.
The Ballmer compound is also down the road from an art-filled mansion that was one of our most expensive home listings in 2018. That luxury property sold last year for a record $37.5 million.
As for Ballmer, he can afford his real estate splurge. The owner of the Los Angeles Clippers comes in 19th on the Forbes billionaires list, with an estimated net worth of $64 billion.
After dropping out of Stanford’s MBA program, he became employee No. 30 at Microsoft in 1980. He eventually led the company from 2000 to 2014. The year he retired from the software company, he purchased the NBA’s Clippers for $2 billion.
