Reese Witherspoon Sells Pacific Palisades Property for $17M

Reese Witherspoon, one of the stars of the TV series “Big Little Lies,” and her husband, Jim Toth, an executive at the mobile video platform Quibi, have finally sold their Pacific Palisades property, Variety reported.

The buyers, reportedly the automobile accessories heiress Robin Formanek and her husband, John Cianciolo, paid just over $17 million, in an all-cash deal.

While that is a hefty sum, it’s a bit of a comedown, given that the A-list actress had quietly put the place on the market in 2016 for almost $20 million. Even with the lower sale price, however, it’s still worthy of a “bend and snap.”

Throughout the process, Witherspoon and her husband managed to keep their home off the Multiple Listing Service. So, alas, details are scant.

But the posh property, which the couple bought in 2014, has often been seen in the background of Witherspoon’s Instagram account as she promotes her book club and fashion line (as well as a very cute French bulldog).

The couple purchased the updated home in an off-market transaction, buying it for $12,705,000 from Ken Unger, who is known as an architect to the stars.

The new owners then added their own upgrades, including souped-up security, for the 10,000-square-foot Colonial-style traditional. Along with five bedrooms, the layout includes a master suite with a sitting room—and quite a closet, if Instagram is to be believed.

Her social media photos offer glimpses of a picture-perfect kitchen with white subway-tile backsplash, gray cabinets, and a marble island.

The space appears to include built-in bookshelves, cozy and well-lit spaces, and a large, private backyard with an infinity edge pool.

The finished basement includes a gym, screening room, and two staff or guest bedrooms.

The award-winning actress still reportedly owns a compound in Malibu that she picked up in an off-market deal last year.

The photogenic hobby farm, on 2 acres, was previously a wedding and event site. It offers a main house and multiple guesthouses, as well as equestrian facilities.

The Oscar and Emmy winner is currently starring in the Hulu series “Little Fires Everywhere,” which she also produced. She has also starred in “Walk the Line,” “Wild,” and the Apple TV series “The Morning Show.”

Forbes reported that Witherspoon was one of the highest-paid actresses in 2019, and also listed her as one of the 100 most powerful women in the world.
