The tennis great Serena Williams is serving up her home in Beverly Hills, CA. The luxe estate is available for a little under $7.5 million, the New York Post reports.
Williams bought the home brand-new in 2017, at a price of $6.68 million, and the beautiful abode is a grand slam. Measuring 6,000 square feet, the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom residence is located in the guard-gated Summit Estates area.
The airy interior showcases a formal living and dining room with on-trend light fixtures. A large, open kitchen is adjacent to Fleetwood doors that lead to the veranda. The large black marble counter has room for bar seating, and the kitchen is next to a welcoming family room.
On the lower level is a lounge area with a bar and wine cellar, gym or office space, and laundry. The upper level features a spacious master suite with a sitting area, as well as an enormous bathroom with double vanities and separate tub and shower.
The up-to-date design features oak flooring, an open floor plan, contemporary finishes, and walls of glass that open out to the yard.
Set on a third of an acre, the outdoor space is designed for entertaining, with a built-in Wolf barbecue and fridge, plus a semicircular pool and grassy area.
Amit Lalji with Keller Williams Beverly Hills holds the listing.
Bye to Bel-Air
Around the time Williams picked up the contemporary Spanish-style home in 90210, she listed her long-time Bel-Air residence.
That mansion, in the Stone Canyon area of Los Angeles, initially landed on the market for $12 million, about twice what she paid for the place in 2006.
She wasn’t able to find a taker at that price, so the ask came down to $10 million after about a year. The home finally sold in 2019 for $8.1 million. After Serena’s departure, it came back on the market in 2020 to be sold yet again, for slightly under $8 million.
Built in 1935, the private, parklike estate in a shade of baby blue features a mix of updates, along with plenty of original charm. The 6,101-square-foot floor plan includes a semicircular living room, white marble flooring, and glass doors leading out to the gardens, as well as seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The 2.76 acres also offer a loggia and pool.
Sister act in Florida
Serena and her sister, Venus Williams, put a massive shared estate in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, on the market in late 2018, for $2,695,000.
The siblings purchased an acre of land in BallenIsles Country Club with both water and golf course views for $525,000. They custom-built, then lived in, this private, secure compound.
The triple-gated home offers 8,000 square feet of living space, with two very large master suites with private offices. Other amenities include four guest suites, and an outdoor living area with a pool and spa, cabana, and outdoor kitchen. The sisters let the place go in early 2019 for $2.3 million.
Miami mansion
Serena’s current residence is still influenced by her big sis. In fact, Venus, who heads a design business, V Starr Interiors, helped create the masterpiece that Serena shares with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, and their daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
The minimalist space is another big win. It appeared on the cover of a recent issue of Architectural Digest and includes an art gallery.
Located outside Miami, the three-year gut renovation resulted in a sleek and ultra-modern look. The space includes walls of glass, a terrace that offers indoor and outdoor living, a gym, a wine cellar, outdoor pool, and Serena’s 620-square-foot closet. But no tennis court?
“I wanted to separate home from work,” Serena told AD. “I love being home. When you have our job, you never get time to relax. So it’s good for me to be able to sit still and not do anything.”
Lest we forget, that’s nice work if you can get it.
The former No. 1 in women’s single tennis, Williams has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles and is considered one of the greatest female tennis players of all time.
