A Miami Beach home designed with rising sea levels in mind has floated onto the market for $27 million. Architect Max Strang created the home expressly for its locale, raising it 13 feet above sea level.

“The house has elevated expectations and raised the bar,” says listing agent Eloy Carmenate. He and Mick Duchon, both of Douglas Elliman, represent the listing.

“It’s set a new standard for what a luxury home at this price point is like,” Carmenate adds. It’s so elegant. We call it the house of the future because it’s elevated. And it’s the future of Miami Beach.”

The property was purchased in 2013 for $5.6 million by Italian developer Valerio Morabito, who commissioned Strang and interior architect Michele Bonan to build a standout estate.

However, the mansion took years to build to his specifications, and Morabito, who had recently married Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Vita Sidorkina-Morabito, decided not to move in and is selling instead.

Located on a waterway just off of Miami Beach in the exclusive enclave of Sunset Island, the structure is clad entirely in teak, stone, and glass. There are 12,700 square feet of interior space, terraces, a rooftop deck, and 151 feet of water frontage.

The home’s massive teak front doors are flanked by wall fountains that cascade into two ponds.

The layout includes seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and three powder rooms. The property also features a four-car garage, gym, elevator with rooftop access, wine cave, two media rooms, and two guest suites.

And for a buyer looking for a turnkey opportunity, over $1 million in interior furnishings are included.

“All the furniture was custom-made for the house. Every piece was personally made by Bonan’s studio. It can’t even be replicated,” Carmenate says.

The grounds boast an outdoor kitchen, 78-foot pool, reflective ponds, gardens, and water views. The waterway leads to Biscayne Bay, and a private dock can accommodate large yachts.

With island breezes, palm trees, and a resortlike feeling, you may feel like you’ve been elevated to another part of the world.

“It’s very peaceful, very beautiful,” Carmenate says, “almost like a sanctuary.”
