In October 2019, the rapper Vanilla Ice (aka Robert Van Winkle) transferred ownership of a Florida home to his now-former wife for $10. Laura Van Winkle turned around and put the home on the market in mid-August for $909,000.
After a flurry of price cuts over the past two months, the home in Wellington, FL, is now pending sale. The most recent price on the “resort-like property,” prior to an offer coming in, was $799,990.
And in a twist designed to make Gen Xers feel ancient, the listing agent on the property is none other than Dusti Van Winkle, with Rock And Roll Real Estate. Yes, Vanilla Ice’s daughter is 22 years old, and a real estate agent to boot.
Dusti leaned into her dad’s background when she penned the listing description for the home in the gated Versailles community. It’s marketed as “previously owned by an Internationally Famous Entertainer.”
Whether Vanilla Ice’s presence had anything to do with a potential deal is questionable, but the home has plenty to boast about besides its connection to the rapper. The two-story, five-bedroom home offers 4,165 square feet of luxury living space, with a number of custom upgrades.
As you enter, there’s a formal living area with lovely views of the pool and backyard. Around the corner, you’ll find the formal dining room, dominated by a large window that illuminates the room.
The kitchen offers a large center island, double ovens, and plenty of cabinet space for storage. There’s also an office on the first floor.
Upstairs, you’ll find the spacious and private master bedroom, with a large walk-in closet and plenty of storage space. The master bathroom includes his-and-hers vanities, a soaking tub, and standing shower.
A secluded balcony right off the master area overlooks the backyard and pool area.
The outdoor space is ideal for entertaining and hosting parties. It features two entertainment centers, with both covered and uncovered patios, a custom saltwater pool, cabana bath, and outdoor shower.
You’ll also find fruit trees in the yard to enjoy. And being in Wellington means that horses are never far away—the listing details mention that there are many equestrian activities nearby.
The Van Winkles purchased the home brand-new for $716,695 in early 2005.
Vanilla Ice, 53, is responsible for the first hip-hop single to top the Billboard Charts: “Ice Ice Baby” in 1990. Vanilla struggled to live up to the huge hit and never reached the same level of success in the music business.
He moved on from music and eventually landed a home-flipping show on the DIY Network in 2010. “The Vanilla Ice Project” has run for nine seasons, with over 100 episodes.
He now lives in a home that he renovated on the reality show, which was featured in an article in Florida Today in 2018.
