“Fast and Furious” star Jason Statham hopes to rev up a sale of his midcentury modern home in Los Angeles. The renovated abode is back on the market with a price slice to $6.2 million.
Initially, the impeccably reimagined property was available in March for just under $7 million. It turns out, when starring in action-packed thrillers, the 53-year-old Brit prefers the thrill of real estate.
Purchased in 2015 for $2.7 million, the project offered a challenge to the serial home flipper, who told Architectural Digest in its March issue, “This one sort of came out of the blue and had a certain charm. It was quite downtrodden and had been neglected.”
According to AD, Statham quickly decided to purchase the place for guests, and to use it as his office and gym.
He worked with his longtime architect Jeff Allsbrook of Standard Architecture. The revamp took 18 months, and Statham said it wasn’t constrained by a budget.
The finished product is an “organic masterpiece” and a “harmonious blend of midcentury and Scandinavian design with all the latest and greatest modern amenities,” according to the listing description.
Now it’s available for a bargain-minded buyer at an 11% discount.
Built in 1957, the pad offers four bedrooms and three bathrooms on 3,000 square feet. The asymmetrical roofline, clad in cedarwood, is a major design element in the wood-and-glass-themed living area. The home features an indoor-outdoor floor plan and a neutral palette.
Light-filled rooms have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that lead out from the living and dining area to the secluded outdoor space.
The sleek kitchen features a rotating glass door that leads out to the saltwater pool, for easy outdoor entertaining. The master suite includes a bath with a free-standing tub, walk-in oak closet, and private outdoor lounge with a fire pit.
The other two minimalist bedrooms are perfect for guests, or could be easily used as office or study space.
Outdoors, amenities include a barrel sauna, as well as an icemaker with a stainless-steel immersion tub, for ice baths post-workout. For those not as hard-core as the actor-athlete, perhaps you could immerse beers in the cold tub. The patio also features a covered barbecue area and space for lounging.
Statham decided to place the home on the market to search out new projects.
“Change is always good,” he told AD.
Now, the price has changed as well.
When not flipping real estate, the movie star can be seen in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, “The Expendables,” and earlier in his career, in movies such as “The Transporter” and “Snatch.”
Rayni Williams with The Beverly Hills Estates Inc. holds the listing.
