The late author Tom Clancy’s former penthouse in Baltimore is headed to the auction block, with no reserve price.

Located in the luxury Ritz-Carlton Residences, the oversize penthouse is a combination of three units that the Baltimore native and his wife purchased for $12.6 million in 2009, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Over the course of two years, the units were remodeled into a grand residence with 12,000 square feet, four bedrooms, and 5.5 bathrooms.

The open floor plan, composed of mainly stark white interiors, is made up of a spacious foyer, a 1,500-square-foot living room with harbor and skyline views, an eat-in gourmet kitchen with Viking and Sub-Zero appliances, two offices, a home theater, and an in-home gym.

Other details include two balconies, four corner terraces, hardwood floors, 10-foot-high ceilings, and a private elevator.

A large master suite comes with sitting areas, two en suite bathrooms, custom walk-in closets, and dressing areas.

Living in the Ritz offers residents amenities including a concierge service, four parking spaces, valet parking, and access to a game room and board room.

After Clancy’s death in 2013, the penthouse came on the market in 2015 for $12 million.

Over the years, the price dropped by millions. In 2017, the asking price had been slashed to $7.9 million, before dropping another $2 million to its last list price of $5.9 million.

Another Maryland property owned by the writer also came to market after his death. Dubbed Peregrine Cliff, the 17,000-square-foot estate sat on 537 acres on Chesapeake Bay, and had been available for $6.2 million. The compound sold in August for just under $5 million.

The author penned best-selling spy novels including “The Hunt for Red October,” “Patriot Games,” “The Sum of All Fears,” and “Clear and Present Danger,” many of which were turned into popular movies.

The books sold over 100 million copies, and 17 of his novels were bestsellers. Amazon currently hosts a series based on his “Jack Ryan” novels, called “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.”

The no-reserve bidding for the penthouse will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, on-site and remotely, hosted by Elite Auctions.

Angel Stevens with Cummings & Co. Realtors® represents the listing.
