Gene Simmons Selling a Rockin’ Hollywood Hills Home for $2.2M

Gene Simmons

Per Ole Hagen/Redferns

The rock star Gene Simmons is singing a farewell tune to his Hollywood Hills home. The legendary KISS frontman is hoping a buyer will pucker up with a purchase of his rocking abode for $2.2 million.

Simons, 70, bought the split-level home built in 1968 for $1.45 million in 2013.

The secluded structure on a gated private road set atop Los Angeles‘ Laurel Canyon features walls of glass and panoramic views that span the downtown L.A. skyline, the Hollywood Sign, Griffith Park Observatory, Santa Monica Mountains, and out to the Pacific Ocean.

But for fans of the band, don’t expect traces of the family jewels.

“There’s nothing custom to Gene in the house except his amazing presence,” says the listing agent, Lisa Young with Compass.

The light and airy floor plan features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 2,345 square feet. You may see doubles in this home. The split-level layout includes two living areas, as well as two kitchens, which have been “tastefully updated,” along with the bathrooms.

Both kitchens feature stainless-steel appliances, white cabinetry, and Carrara marble counters. Adjacent to each is a dining table and living space that looks out to the decks and glorious views beyond.

Other interior details include high ceilings with recessed lighting, light wood floors, and sliding glass doors.

Young notes that the rockstar’s home is perfect for the creative set.

“The house is great for entertainment industry people, from musicians, actors, writers,” she says, thanks to the “privacy, high ceilings, matchless views, and unique floor plan. It’s truly inspiring.”

The three-level home features decks on every floor, with the living areas opening outside. The spacious decks allow room for outdoor dining and lounging while taking in the views.

The bedrooms also feature glass doors that open outside. Of the four, one larger bedroom has an additional built-in reading nook and bookshelves.

Young notes that Simmons is selling because he’s “actively investing in other areas.”

He and his wife, Shannon Tweed, still own their long-time mansion in Beverly Hills, the setting for the Simmons family’s reality TV show, “The Family Jewels.” That European-style estate includes 10 bathrooms, a tennis court, and a pool.

Lisa Young and Kennon Earl, both of Compass, hold the listing.
