The Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher has clinched two real estate victories. He recently sold both his Phoenix-area mansion and his Illinois country estate, within a day of each other.

That kind of real estate skill is worthy of an end-zone dance. Let’s break down the action.

Arizona mansion sells

As we recently reported, the Chicago Bears great placed his resortlike home in Queen Creek, AZ, on the market in early April for $2.5 million.

Before the month was over, he’d already sealed a deal at his asking price.

The eight-time Pro Bowler purchased the Phoenix-area abode brand-new in 2014, for $780,000. He and his wife, Jennipher Frost, a former contestant on “America’s Next Top Model,” can now depart from their high-end desert home.

Built in 2013, the contemporary estate, on 1 acre, is surrounded by swaying palm trees and has six bedrooms and five bathrooms. The 5,400-square-foot layout features a family room with coffered ceilings and a wall of glass that opens outside.

Just adjacent, the gourmet kitchen comes with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, custom cabinetry, granite counters, and an oversized island with breakfast bar. Next to the kitchen, you’ll find a formal dining room.

The master retreat includes a private entrance and an en suite bathroom with a freestanding tub, shower, dual vanities, and spacious walk-in closet.

Other perks of the home include a gym, as well as a separate one-bedroom guesthouse with a lounge area and a kitchenette.

The splashy backyard is designed for fun in the sun. The pool includes a slide, basketball hoop, and spa.

Michael Sheahan with My Home Group Real Estate represented the seller. Valerie J. Randall with Perkinson Properties repped the buyer.

Country estate

The day after he closed his deal in Arizona, Urlacher finally tackled the sale of his suburban Illinois spread.

After years on the market, the Libertyville, IL, home sold on April 29 for $1.5 million, according to the Chicago Tribune. That’s half of what the retired player was looking for when he initially listed the place in 2017 for $3 million. It’s also well below the $2,312,000 he paid for the property back in 2004.

The price had been significantly slashed over the years, first in 2018 to $2.7 million, and then again to just under $2 million later in the year, as we reported at the time.

Still on the market in 2019, the price was reduced yet again, to $1.8 million. A series of subsequent price drops finally landed the mansion at a $1.6 million asking price. That finally enticed a buyer to step off the sidelines.

Although it spent years on the market, the home is quite a trophy.

Built in 1987, the home was designed for privacy and “most of all, fun,” the listing states.

Set on over 9 acres, the estate offers six bedrooms and eight bathrooms on 11,000 square feet of living space. Highlights include a main-level game room complete with bar, a sunk-in media area, a finished basement, and a great room with a fireplace.

The eat-in kitchen includes a large island and separate area with a dining table and a fireplace for the cooler months. In the summer, open up the glass doors to access the patio outside.

The home also has a formal living room and dining rooms, an office, and a screened-in porch. The one-of-a-kind master suite features a walk-in closet, bathroom, balcony, sitting area, and private laundry.

Even with all the beauty inside, the spread is “all about the outdoors,” the listing notes.

Highlights include a full-size basketball court, in-ground trampoline, and putting green. The outdoor grill and patio area make for great entertaining, and the property also comes with two pole barns for horses (up to five are allowed) or for a car collection.

Other perks include a two-story playhouse with an adjacent swing set, which overlooks a stocked pond.

Alex Wolking with Keller Williams ONEChicago represented Urlacher in the deal, and told the Chicago Tribune that the athlete had sunk a lot of money into the property over the years.

“Those were improvements he did for himself, his family and his kids, and he never expected to get that money back,” he says.

Urlacher, 42, spent his entire career with the Bears. After a glorious 13-season career in the Windy City, he announced his retirement in 2013. He was voted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
