The disco queen Gloria Gaynor‘s melodious mansion in Green Brook, NJ, is back on the market with a price cut.
After the home first became available in 2019 for $1.4 million, its price dropped last year to $1.3 million. Now, it is back on the market with Lisa Poggi of Douglas Elliman, for $1,249,000.
The singer of “Never Can Say Goodbye” wishes to bid adieu to her longtime abode, which she bought in 1999 for $888,888.
It was built in 1988, and its flashy interiors recall the singer’s disco roots. The sprawling space has five bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms on 5,318 spacious square feet.
While living there, Gaynor added plenty of luxe upgrades, for example, a movie theater with 12 reclining seats and half-bathroom. Outside, she put in a heated pool with a domed glass atrium. She also transformed the walk-out basement into a game room, lounge with bar, and a full gym.
Naturally, the home is fit for a diva. Each of the four bedrooms features a glam walk-in closet, and there is even more storage throughout the house. The property is on an acre, with lush lawns and a gazebo, and comes with a three-car garage.
Gaynor recently told the New York Times that the home is an entertainer’s dream.
“I used to have a Fourth of July party, then changed it to a Christmas party, then a birthday party,” she said.
“Outside, I built a stage in front of the pool, and people danced. Inside, people watched football on TV or were shooting pool and listening to the jukebox.”
Built by the award-winning architect Jeffrey Beers, this custom contemporary design features many eye-catching elements, such as the light-filled, two-story foyer. Other details include soaring windows and glassy marble flooring .
An open floor plan features a large living area with a fireplace and a formal dining area that looks out to the backyard.
The large, updated eat-in kitchen opens to a family room with a fireplace, and French doors that lead outside.
On the lower level, the walk-out basement includes a game room with a billiard-table and bar, and leads out to the backyard.
When not entertaining, lounge about on the first-floor master suite, which showcases a solarium, sitting room, and bathroom with jetted tub, separate shower, and dressing area. The second floor houses the three other bedrooms.
The Times notes that the New Jersey native has opted to move closer to Manhattan, building herself a custom home in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.
Gaynor, 77, is best-known for the hits “Never Can Say Goodbye,” “I Know What I Know,” and “I Will Survive,” for which she won a Grammy.
