For a buyer in search of a home with a celebrity pedigree, a home formerly owned by the Oscar-winning actor Burt Lancaster is now available. Located below the Hollywood sign in the Beachwood Canyon neighborhood, the 1941 residence is on the market for $2,399,000 million.

Lancaster, who died in 1994 at the age of 80, had purchased the home. His daughter lived there, and the home had been in the Lancaster family.

The home has changed hands several times over the years, beginning in 1996 for $270,000, and last sold in 2017 for $1,766,665. The current listing details describe it as “designer owned.”

Recently redone, the 2,800-square-foot interior includes four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The updated interior has a spacious floor plan with glass doors that extend the living space outside.

Multiple French doors open to the patio, perfect for entertaining. The living room features a fireplace and built-ins.

The modern, open kitchen boasts a center island, subway-tile backsplash, and stainless-steel appliances. Adjacent to the kitchen is a dining area with a chandelier overhead.

Upstairs, a large master suite includes a fireplace. Two additional bedrooms open to a screened porch with hillside views. An additional guest suite downstairs could serve as an office or gym.

Outside, the fenced backyard is filled with mature trees, terraced gardens, and a plunge pool.

The property also includes a two-car garage, pantry, and basement. The convenient location is close to the Beachwood Market and Cafe, Griffith Park trails, and the Hollywood Reservoir. Although it is surrounded by nature, the neighborhood is just minutes to the heart of Hollywood.

In 2016, another property Lancaster used to own popped up on the market for $2.65 million, an expansive Spanish-style condo at Century Towers, the high-rise in Century City.

The 18th-floor unit combined two apartments, spanned 2,800 square feet, and featured floor-to-ceiling windows. The star purchased the place in 1976 and owned it for two decades, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Lancaster had a 45-year career in film and television. He’s known for his Oscar-winning performance in “Elmer Gantry,” as well as for his starring roles in “From Here to Eternity,” “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral,” and “Judgment at Nuremberg.”

Josh Myler and Jeff Kohl of The Agency hold the listing.
