While they didn’t win Season 2 of HGTV’s “Rock the Block,” popular design duo Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent proved their value where it really counts. They managed to attract a buyer to the home they designed in no time at all.
The stars of “Nate and Jeremiah: Save My House” won two challenges on “Rock the Block” and seemed to be destined for the big win. But the judges on the season finale simply weren’t wowed by Berkus and Brent. However, real-life buyers truly appreciated their creation.
The home they worked on in Dallas, GA, fetched a full-price offer of $635,000. The finished product went on the market at the beginning of March, and the deal closed last week.
After watching the show religiously, we know why this 4,120-square-foot house got snapped up so quickly. After a review of this home’s highlights, perhaps Berkus and Brent should have won “Rock the Block” after all.
It has an elegant exterior
Each of the four teams had $225,000 to renovate their house, and Berkus and Brent spent a good chunk of their dough ($40,000) on covering all four sides of their house with brick.
“We’ve seen a lot of the local architecture, and it’s usually brick just on the front of the house and then siding on the backs,” Berkus said. “But brick you never have to replace. It’s forever.”
This stately exterior looks fabulous, and it won Berkus and Brent one of the “Rock the Block” challenges.
The kitchen will take you on an instant vacation
Berkus and Brent wanted their house to have a “European farmhouse” feel, so they gave the kitchen lots of character with the use of forest-green cabinets and elegant glass shelves. They also incorporated a beautiful reclaimed wood island and two beautiful pendant lights to bring in an old-world feel.
This kitchen ended up with lots of classic European charm—but it was also meant to be functional. Berkus and Brent were able to fit three stools at the large island and still have room for a full dining table.
The new owners will easily be able to entertain all their friends.
It has a beautiful sitting room attached to a screened front porch
A screened porch is a hot commodity in Georgia. Unfortunately, ugly screens don’t usually help a home’s curb appeal.
However, Berkus and Brent were able to create a screened porch that looked elegant, and they attached it (with two sets of French doors) to a front sitting room. The spaces wound up looking beautiful, complete with a moody paint color on the walls and high-end, black-and-white-checkered flooring.
Berkus and Brent elevated these spaces and made them into an area designed for upscale lounging. It’s hard to believe these spaces were formerly just an open porch and a bland bonus room.

The master suite is a standout
This house has six bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, but the highlight is the master suite.
Berkus and Brent added full-length curtains to the headboard wall in the bedroom, using them as a unique alternative to paint or wallpaper. Meanwhile, the bathroom has a standing bathtub, a shower, and two vanities. Plus, it features the same flooring tile from the sitting room and porch downstairs, tying the looks together.
It’s a gorgeous master suite and likely proved to be a popular selling point.

The basement could bring in extra income
While the main two levels of this house are beautiful, the finished basement is also an impressive feat.
Berkus and Brent created a separate living area with two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a separate entrance. To top off their design, they transformed a small, windowless room into a home theater, dressing it up with creamy curtains on the wall and plush seating.
“I’m sure the other teams are going to add a bedroom or a really fun, like, game room,” Brent said when working on the basement. “That’s really cool. But nobody’s adding a two-bedroom, fully functional rental.”
This apartment could be the perfect spot for in-laws or an older child, or it could be used as a vacation rental for extra income. It’s a smart use of space with beautiful design.
While the house didn’t come out on top on “Rock the Block,” it certainly feels like a winner for the new owner.
