The producer of “Bridgerton,” Shonda Rhimes, is letting go of her dramatic mansion in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Hancock Park, asking $25 million, Dirt reported. Her Regency-era romance series on Netflix was a runaway hit. Now Rhimes hopes a buyer will swoon over her real estate.

The creator of “Grey’s Anatomy” purchased the property, which straddles two parcels totaling over an acre, for $8.8 million in 2014. She then proceeded on a major renovation and addition, overseen by the architect and builder Bill Baldwin.

The original 1923 design by Elmer Grey had been redone over the years with a Santa Barbara Mission-style exterior that Rhimes described as “ugly” in an Architectural Digest profile of the renovated home.

It’s now restored to its former glory as an Italianate villa with stone carvings to match the original design, and a top-to-bottom refresh, complete with luxury interiors done by the White House designer Michael Smith.

The seven-bedroom, 12-bathroom estate on 11,749 square feet features custom details including hardwood, crown molding, designer lighting, Venetian plaster, French doors, blown-glass skylights, and eight fireplaces.

Billed as “one of the most spectacular properties ever offered in Hancock Park,” the compound has multiple structures, including the three-level main residence.

Enter to a foyer with marble flooring and a chandelier. Head to the living room with an intricate tray ceiling, or take a seat in the formal dining room.

Alternatively, you can simply hang out in the eat-in chef’s kitchen, with its state-of-the-art appliances, which Rhimes described in AD as the “kitchen of my dreams.”

For parties, a butler’s pantry and catering kitchen fit the bill. Other spaces include a family room, a library filled with the owner’s awards and book collection, a two-story salon and music mezzanine, and a gym.

Upstairs, find six en suite bedrooms, including the primary bedroom with an opal white stone bath and walk-in dressing room.

On the lower level, a home theater, snack bar, playroom, and storage fill the space.

A separate guesthouse comes with a bath and hair salon, perfect for prepping for award ceremonies.

Walled and gated for privacy, the grounds offer a huge motor court and three-car garage. An enormous backyard with a patio has a barbecue and space for dining.

The outdoor area includes two grassy yards, a pool, cabana, sport court, and a hedged “secret garden” with a fountain.

The Shondaland producer possesses an impressive property portfolio. She’s acquired multiple homes in L.A.’s Hancock Park area over the years, and still apparently owns a duplex she purchased in 2007 for $1.66 million, as well as a five-bedroom English manor-style home she picked up for $4.6 million.

In 2019, Rhimes, 51, sold off one of her Hancock Park homes—a 1920s build on a corner lot—for $7.2 million.

And the author of “Year of Yes” said yes to a posh penthouse on Manhattan’s Upper East Side that she procured for $11.75 million.

The award-winning producer, writer, and author signed a multiyear deal to produce content for Netflix in 2017, which recently expanded to include feature films and live events, according to the New York Post. Her Netflix series “Bridgerton” scored 12 Emmy nominations and has been tapped for three more seasons. She also created obsessively watched shows on ABC, such as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal.”

Ed Solorzano with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California holds the listing.
