While he’s no longer with the Philadelphia Phillies, the star pitcher Cole Hamels and his wife, Heidi, stuck around Pennsylvania to raise their children. Now the couple are ready to find a new home base, and have placed their custom-built abode on the market.

Their property is available for $2,495,000 with the listing agent Kit Anstey, of BHHS Fox & Roach West Chester.

About 25 miles outside Philadelphia in Newtown Square, PA, the spacious abode offers 9,720 square feet, six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and three half-bathrooms.

Hamels never signed with a team for the 2021 season, and he and his family have left the space, which looks even bigger with empty, unstaged rooms.

The roomy residence opens to a large foyer and curved staircase. Notable features include a large family room with a fireplace, and an adjoining open kitchen with granite counters and high-end appliances. An airy great room includes a beamed ceiling, crown moldings, built-in shelves, and a fireplace.

The master bedroom suite offers a sitting area, with a two-sided gas fireplace, built-in shelves, and beverage center. It also boasts tray ceilings, a fireplace, and double doors that open to a bathroom with double vanities and a separate shower and large tub.

In addition, the third floor can be used as a family room, kids’ hangout space, or hobby area. The lower level has a gym and an in-law suite. Other perks include a wine room, media room, and an office with built-ins.

Outside, on almost 1 acre, the property sports a pool, patio, and grassy lawn. A covered living and dining area features an outdoor fireplace.

The couple last made real estate headlines when they decided to donate their unfinished mansion in Branson West, MO, to charity. They had initially placed the property on the market for $10 million in August 2017, but with the place languishing on the market, they decided to donate the home to a local charity instead.

The retreat in the Ozark Mountains includes a 32,000-square-foot home with an unfinished interior, but the guest quarters and carriage house on the property were move-in ready. The expanse also includes 105 acres, more than 1,700 feet of shoreline access to Table Rock Lake, and a private dock.

This past February, the spread sold. While the final price isn’t known, it had last been listed for just about $3 million. But the Hamels can rest assured that the proceeds benefited Camp Barnabas, which serves individuals with special needs and chronic illness, according to the listing.

Hamels began his MLB career in 2006 with the Phillies, and won the World Series MVP award after helping lead the team to the title in 2008. The four-time All Star has had stints with the Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs.

After a single game in 2020 with the Atlanta Braves, the left-hander never latched on with a squad in 2021. He hasn’t announced his retirement, and is still a free agent.
