In the midst of the nationwide pandemic, Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer and his wife, Erica, have settled down in style in the Sunshine State.

The couple recently purchased a luxury mansion in Jupiter, FL, for $9.75 million. The waterfront home, on just under an acre in Palm Beach County, features five bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, and 7,778 square feet.

The estate is within the exclusive enclave of Admirals Cove, a guard-gated “private estate community.” It arrived on the market in February with a price tag of $10.5 million, which means that Scherzer has scored a minor discount.

While the interior spaces are deluxe, with fine finishes, some of the home’s true highlights are outside.

Out back are a lovely outdoor living room and kitchen, as well as a resort-style pool surrounded by generous patio space. The entire backyard offers spectacular views of the waterway.

The mansion comes with 120 feet of water frontage, as well as a protected dock for a 70-foot boat.

The dock is another perfect perch from which to soak in the sunshine and the views. If the All-Star hurler really wants to experience the life aquatic, the Intracoastal waterway is only minutes away by boat.

Inside, the chef’s kitchen has a large center island, dual wall ovens, and a La Cornue gas range, and overlooks the family and breakfast areas.

The spacious master suite includes his-and-hers baths, boutique-style closets, a soaking tub, and large shower.

In the last couple of years, Scherzer had leased a Florida home in nearby West Palm Beach. Now, he’s decided to enter a more permanent relationship with the Florida lifestyle.

The seven-time All Star also maintains a luxurious home in McLean, VA, which he purchased in 2015 for $5.2 million. The renovated home close to his home ballpark is secluded, on 3 acres that overlook the Potomac.

Scherzer, 35, made his major league debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2008. He moved to the Detroit Tigers in 2010, and his career really began to blossom in 2013, when he won his first Cy Young Award while pitching in the Motor City.

After the 2014 season, he signed a seven-year, $210 million contract with the Washington Nationals. With the Nats, he’s earned two additional Cy Young Awards and helped lead the team to a World Series win in 2019.

Scherzer was represented by Holly Meyer Lucas, and the seller was represented by Rob Thomson.
