When Greta Gerwig hunted for period-appropriate locations to film her version of “Little Women,” it was only a matter of time until she landed at the 55-acre Thayer estate, a Colonial mansion just an hour outside of Boston.

Now the home used as a setting for one of 2019’s most acclaimed films is up for sale for $2.5 million. A lucky buyer of the historic residence in Lancaster, MA, has the opportunity to live like Jo March each and every day.

Built in 1903, the home is simply massive—with figures that caused us to do a double take. There are a staggering 47 bedrooms, 24-plus bathrooms, and nearly 22,000 square feet of living space.

Designed by Guy Lowell, the architect also responsible for the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the mansion was built as a summer home for horticulturist Bayard Thayer, according to Boston Magazine.

Around the 1950s, the home was reborn as a Catholic retreat, and by 1986, Dr. Deepak Chopra had converted the property into a health center for the rich and famous.

Though the Colonial shows some fraying around some edges, the interiors have been updated here and there.

The main house and carriage house were used to film “Little Women” over two days, according to the listing.

But this latest star turn is just one of many notable aspects about the larger-than-life address. And considering it was priced for millions more—$5,385,000 to be precise—just three years ago, it’s also a pretty sweet deal.

So whether you are into wellness or nature, or want to turn this retreat into a stunning backdrop of your own for events and weddings, the Thayer estate is ready for its close-up once again.
