The actor Michael Rapaport didn’t even have time to put his rare modern home in Los Angeles’ Hancock Park neighborhood on the market before it sold for $3.57 million.

The deal happened so fast that Rapaport had to ask the seller for a 60-day escrow so he could continue living in the house. He needed a place to stay while he shot and wrapped the third season of the Netflix comedy “Atypical” before moving to New York, according to the listing agent, Nick Collins of The Agency.

From the time Rapaport and his wife, the actress Kebe Dunn, made the call to sell the house, “it took about a day to find the right buyer,” Collins explains.

It went into escrow before it even went on the market.

Rapaport purchased the home in 2016 for $2.97 million, about a year after it was built. It’s quite a rare find in this part of Los Angeles, because most Hancock Park homes are close to a century old and traditional-looking—and legally required to stay that way.

“Hancock Park is among L.A.’s more classic and older neighborhoods, with most homes being built in the 1920s and ’30s and still standing,” explains Collins. “Many pockets of Hancock Park are protected by an HPOZ [historic zoning], which prevents you from a lot of exterior change. It’s become difficult to find any new construction at all in Hancock Park.”

Rapaport’s five-bedroom, six-bathroom home is a stellar example of modern luxury. Light and bright, it has wide oak hardwood floors throughout, as well as floor-to-ceiling Fleetwood doors that let in plenty of Southern California sunshine.
