The Olympic gold medalist Shaun White didn’t really reach the podium with his latest sale. The legendary snowboarder recently sold his Malibu beach Craftsman for $8 million.

The picturesque Point Dume retreat, just 30 minutes from  Los Angeles, had previously been part of a $27.5 million compound White had placed on the market in 2019. The adjacent homes were offered separately, but could have been purchased as a set for someone looking for a small compound.

As it stands, the single property consists of two separate legal parcels totaling over 1 acre of land, so the new owner still has plenty of space to spread out.

White picked up the Malibu abode in 2016 for $10.75 million.

He had clearly hoped for a larger return, rather than a loss with the sale. The X-Games star initially asked $12,750,000 for the coastal residence, but quickly dropped the price after the home stayed on the market and failed to attract a buyer.

He slashed the price earlier this year to a more realistic $8,995,000, which brought him more in line with buyer expectations.

Built in 1948, the charming remodeled beach house comes with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 2,164 square feet of living space.

The home is set behind private gates on a bluff overlooking a pool and the Pacific below. Its open concept floor plan features hardwood floors, a fireplace, and walls of windows with a terrace and water views.

The gourmet kitchen offers professional appliances and a built-in breakfast nook with views of the grounds and ocean. The bedrooms open directly to the outdoor spaces. The space also features a family room on the lower level.

Outside, the yard comes with a covered terrace with built-in barbecue, lawns, a pool, and spa.

A two-car garage with a hookup for an electric car and ample guest parking rounds out the property.

White had also listed a second property next door. The three-bedroom, 2,175-square-foot, ranch-style spot, which he bought in 2013 for $8.94 million, had initially been priced at $14.5 million in 2019. It sold six months later for $11.8 million.

Built on the bluff in 1952, that beach pad has wraparound decks, ocean views, and private access to Westward Beach. The interiors feature high ceilings, walls of glass, and wood floors.

The property had no pool, but included a hot tub, fountain, garage, and guest parking.

The real estate wheeler-dealer has also owned a contemporary in the Hollywood Hills and a Manhattan penthouse, both of which he put on the market some years ago, when his focus turned to the beach.

The snow and skateboarding entrepreneur is a three-time Olympic gold medalist. He holds the record for the most X-Games gold medals and the most Olympic gold medals won by a snowboarder.
