What a difference a year makes. After coming on the market for $57 million last February, this trilevel Tribeca penthouse in New York City topped our list as most expensive home on realtor.com® at the time.

And now, the pricey property, reportedly owned by Formula One racing legend Lewis Hamilton, has returned for another spin on the market, this time with a $5 million discount, according to Architectural Digest.

The British-born racer, 35, has apparently never lived in the place, which is described as “a rare offering and in pristine new condition” in the listing description. This could be a big win for the next owner.

Records show that Hamilton purchased the three-story home, which has a roof deck and plunge pool, in 2017 for $44 million.

But he has since driven away from the home, and instead bought a $40.7 million unit at 70 Vestry, the New York Post reported.

For those looking to park in Hamilton’s place, two parking spots are included with the largest penthouse loft in the building, according to the listing description.

The grand-scale unit offers 8,908 square feet of interior space, with an additional 3,426 square feet of outdoor private rooftop terraces with plunge pool, outdoor kitchen, plus city and river views.

Inside, the living space includes 20-foot ceilings, an open dining room, a library or den with a gas fireplace, and a custom-designed chef’s kitchen.

In addition, the five-bedroom unit includes a master suite with gas fireplace, en suite spa bath, and a separate dressing room with its own windows.

On the top floor, a family room opens out to the terrace, and includes a fireplace, powder room, and wet bar. An elevator reaches all three levels, as does the key-locked building elevator.

The landmarked building from 1882, built by architect Charles Haight as a bookbindery, offers 53 loft condos, and boasts many A-list neighbors, including Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, and Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, according to the Post.

Residents enjoy drive-in, drive-out garage access, a big bonus if you want to keep away from the paparazzi. And it’s close to the Holland Tunnel, as well as outdoor activities such as the waterfront and the Hudson River Greenway.

In addition, perks for residents include 24-hour door attendants and concierge, a spa fitness center with a 75-foot lap pool and Turkish steam bath, and a children’s playroom.

Celebs are drawn to Tribeca’s trendy bar and restaurant scene. Formerly an industrial area, its buildings have been converted into spacious and pricey apartments. It’s also the site of the Tribeca Film Festival, founded by the actor Robert De Niro, who helped revive the Lower Manhattan area after the 9/11 attacks.

Hamilton is a six-time Formula One world champion, making him one of the most successful drivers in the sport.
