It’s difficult to think of two more distinctly different places in the world than Cormeilles-en-Parisis, France, and Paradise Valley, AZ. But to be certain, you’d have to ask recently retired NBA power forward Boris Diaw.

The French basketball player has just listed his $2.8 million Arizona home, following the end of his 16-season NBA career, which took him to Atlanta, Charlotte, NC, San Antonio, Salt Lake City, and, of course, Phoenix.

His Paradise Valley home boasts a chef’s kitchen with custom brick ceiling, granite countertops, and high-end appliances.

The family room, eating area, office, and bedrooms all lead to an enormous yard with pool, spa, private patios, kitchen, shower, two fire pits, and even a bocce court. The gorgeous master suite comes with a sitting area, his-and-her walk-in closets, a steam shower, large tub, and gym room.

The reason for the sale may be Diaw’s decision to return home. Following his 2018 retirement after a season with the Utah Jazz, Diaw announced that he would be serving as president of the Metropolitans 92, a professional basketball club based in Levallois-Perret, France.

Born to a basketball player mom (Elisabeth Riffiod, considered one of the best players in French women’s basketball history) and a Senegalese high jump champion father (Issa Diaw), the 6-foot-8, 250-pound Diaw was seemingly set from birth to be a professional athlete. He was selected in the first round of the 2003 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks after playing two seasons for the LNB Pro A league in France.

Diaw was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2006 as a member of the Phoenix Suns, and won an NBA championship as a member of the San Antonio Spurs, so he does a heartfelt connection to the Southwest. But the pull of hoops in his native country won out, for now.

The Arizona home listing is being represented by Kirk Lineman with eXp Realty.
